Italian citizens who are registered with AIRE in this Consular jurisdiction, can apply for a passport at the Consulate General of Italy in New York. In order to apply for a passport, it is mandatory to schedule an appointment through the Prenot@mi website. Please note that no fee is due to schedule an appointment.

Applicants are required to check their AIRE registration before booking an appointment, and, if necessary, may request to update their information in the Consular database.
After booking your appointment, you need to confirm it within a window of 3 to 10 days before the scheduled appointment date; otherwise, it will be canceled.
If no appointments are available, you can choose to join the waiting list. Once a slot becomes available, the system will automatically assign it to you, and will notify you via an automated email. If you wish to check the availability of other appointment slots (in case other applicants cancel their appointment), you must first delete the existing appointment on the prenot@mi portal, and then look for a new appointment slot or, if there are no available appointment slots, you can choose to join the waiting list.
Please keep in mind that the system could offer different appointment slots, based on the cancellations received in the meantime.
For parents of minor children who apply for the issuance of their passport, as of 14 June 2023 it is no longer necessary to include among the necessary documents the other parent’s act of consent.
