With the publication of Law No. 26 of 28 February 2026, Decree-Law No. 200 of December 31st 2025 has been converted into law.
Article 1, paragraph 19-ter was introduced, providing for an extension of the deadline for the registration of children of Italian citizens by birth who were minors on the date of entry into force of Law No. 74 of 2025 (namely, May 24th 2025).
The legislative amendment establishes a new deadline for the registration of the aforementioned children — those who are minors or who were minors as of May 24th 2025 — now set at May 31st 2029.
