On Friday 17th May, at the heart of Manhattan, at the High Line, the Italian contemporary fashion scene has been celebrated thanks to “Borders: A Flash of New Italian Fashion“ an unprecedented initiative by Italy’s National Chamber of Fashion and promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Economic Development, the Consulate General of Italy in New York, The Italian Trade Commission in New York, in partnership with the Italian Embassy in Washington DC.
An interaction among fashion and other artistic fields has been possible thanks to the exposition of four different Italian brands raised in the past few years: M1992, Magliano, United Standard e Vitelli/Gioventù Cosmica. The items displayed during those days embody the essence of a new generation of designers who have decided to look at the traditional Italian style through the lens of an estethic approach coming from the young urban subcultures.
