The exhibition is<br \/>divided into three photographic series: La Nuit, Under a Red Sun and Enargeis<br \/>(Epiphany).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Maurizio Barberis, architect, has concentrated on art, photography and design since the<br \/>start of his career, with a particular awareness of the relative nature of perception of the<br \/>space-time dichotomy. He has recently refined his poetic research to explore the points of<br \/>contact between the world of the senses, forms, basic perception, dreams, the realm of<br \/>symbolic assertions and myth, using multiple media including drawing, painting,<br \/>sculpture, photography and site-specific installations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Barberis describes his work as follows: \u201c[&#8230;] The night of the philosophers is a tribute to<br \/>the alchemical tradition of Italian Hermetic philosophy of the Renaissance. It is the<br \/>saturnine night that drives the path of knowledge in pursuit of the lapis philosophorum<br \/>and that foreshadows, in the eternal return of spiritual evolution, the mystery of the<br \/>reformulation of the amorous unity of opposites.\u201d The artist continues: \u201cThe exhibition<br \/>begins with an image of the Gardens of Bomarzo, where we see the inscription<br \/>\u2018dell&#8217;oscuro pensiero\u2019 (from every dark thought), and concludes in a Venetian campo<br \/>named for St. John the Evangelist, author of the Book of Revelation [&#8230;].\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Consulate General of Italy in New York invites you to the opening of the exhibition<br \/>THE PHILOSOPHER&#8217;S NIGHT, About The Minotaur, by Maurizio Barberis, on 8<br \/>March, from 6pm to 8pm. Under the pseudonym Henry Thoreau, he has<br \/>collaborated as a photographer for many years with architecture and design magazines<br \/>like Interni. His photographs have appeared in many international publications (World of<br \/>Interiors, AD France, AD Italia, Elle Decor Germany). He has published many<br \/>photography books with Mondadori, Electa, Damiani Italia and Rizzoli New York. He<br \/>received a prize for best photography at the Venice Architecture Biennale in 2012.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">About Patrizia Catalano:<br \/>A journalist specializing in interior design, architecture and the visual arts, she is in<br \/>charge of the supplements of the magazine Interni for the news magazine Panorama. She<br \/>has written many books, including Belpaese: Interior Italia (pub. Mondadori Arte), Casa<br \/>Italiana (Rizzoli International) and Living Today (Electa).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">About Mariangela Tessa<br \/>Maria Angela Tessa is a journalist living in New York since 2012 where she writes and edits for<br \/>online and print media.
