{"id":5189,"date":"2026-03-04T14:34:39","date_gmt":"2026-03-04T19:34:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/consnewyork.esteri.it\/?p=5189"},"modified":"2026-03-04T14:34:39","modified_gmt":"2026-03-04T19:34:39","slug":"updates-on-citizenship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/consnewyork.esteri.it\/en\/news\/dal_consolato\/2026\/03\/updates-on-citizenship\/","title":{"rendered":"UPDATES ON CITIZENSHIP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With the publication of Law No. 26 of 28 February 2026, Decree-Law No. 200 of December 31st 2025 has been converted into law.<\/p>\n<p>Article 1, paragraph 19-ter was introduced, providing for an <strong>extension of the deadline for the registration of children of Italian citizens by birth who were minors on the date of entry into force of Law No. 74 of 2025<\/strong> (namely, May 24<sup>th<\/sup> 2025).<\/p>\n<p>The legislative amendment establishes <strong><u>a new deadline<\/u> for the registration of the aforementioned children \u2014 those who are minors or who were minors as of May 24<sup>th<\/sup> 2025 \u2014 now set at <u>May 31<sup>st<\/sup> 2029<\/u>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Further instructions will be published on our website.
