{"id":1946,"date":"2023-05-18T12:29:59","date_gmt":"2023-05-18T16:29:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/consnewyork.esteri.it\/?page_id=1946"},"modified":"2026-10-14T17:53:11","modified_gmt":"2026-10-14T21:53:11","slug":"how-to-update-your-a-i-r-e-registration","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/consnewyork.esteri.it\/en\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino-italiano\/anagrafe-degli-italiani-residenti-allestero-aire\/how-to-update-your-a-i-r-e-registration\/","title":{"rendered":"How to update your A.I.R.E. registration"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><strong>Italian citizen who are already registered in AIRE at the Consulate General of Italy in New York must keep their information up to date using the <a href=\"https:\/\/serviziconsolari.esteri.it\">Fast It<\/a> portal.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Citizens are required to inform the Consulate immediately:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>if they change their address;<\/li>\n<li>if there any changes in their personal circumstances such as marriage, births, divorce, death, etc.;<\/li>\n<li>if they lose their Italian citizenship.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Change of address within this consular jurisdiction<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To update your address through Fast It: fill out and upload the form (<a href=\"https:\/\/consnewyork.esteri.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/modello_dichiarazione_di_cambio_indirizzo_trasferimento_rimpatrio.doc\"><em>Dichiarazione di cambio di indirizzo\/Trasferimento in altra circoscrizione consolare\/Rimpatrio<\/em><\/a>) and attach a copy of your passport (and those of each individual in the same family unit) as well as proof of their new address.<\/p>\n<p>If you fail to update your information, in particular your new address, the Consulate will not be able to get in touch with you, and you will not receive your ballot papers whenever there is an election.<\/p>\n<p>Please note: you must make sure that you notify the Consulate of your full, correct address including apartment number, if applicable, and zip code.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x1ll2q23 x1a4oops x132q4wb\"><strong>Transfer to a different consular jurisdiction<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"x12ofw9d\">Italian citizens registered with AIRE who move to another consular jurisdiction, either within the United States or to another country, must notify the Italian Consular Office responsible for their new place of residence by submitting a transfer notification through the Fast It portal within 90 days of the move. The Fast It portal allows users to identify the Consular Office responsible for their new place of residence and provides access to a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x12ofw9d\">Failure to notify the relevant authorities of the transfer may result in the citizen being declared untraceable, with the consequent cancellation of their AIRE registration by the Italian Municipality in which they are registered. Citizens may also notify the Consulate General of Italy in New York of their transfer to another consular jurisdiction by emailing anagrafe.newyork@esteri.it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x12ofw9d\">Failure to keep personal information up to date, particularly changes of address, may make it impossible for the Consulate to contact the citizen and may prevent the delivery of electoral voting materials when elections are held. It is therefore essential that citizens provide their residential address accurately and in full, in accordance with the postal addressing standards of their country of residence.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Moving back to Italy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Italian citizens registered in AIRE who decide to establish or re-establish residency in Italy must notify their <em>Comune<\/em> of residence in Italy as soon as possible when they move back. The <em>Comune<\/em> will then notify the Consulate once the procedure is complete, and the Consulate will update its records accordingly.<\/p>\n<p><strong>AIRE Cancellation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Cancellation happens for the following reasons:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>repatriation (moving back to Italy);<\/li>\n<li>death and presumed death (supported by a death-in-absentia legal declaration);<\/li>\n<li>inability to locate the individual (<em>irreperibilita\u2019 presunta<\/em>) for lack of an up to date address as long as two unsuccessful attempts have been made, or if 100 years have passed since their birth;<\/li>\n<li>loss of Italian citizenship.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Italian citizen who are already registered in AIRE at the Consulate General of Italy in New York must keep their information up to date using the Fast It portal.
