Professor Marina Brogi will discuss her book Corporate Governance--a deep dive in the decision-making powers, duties and responsibilities of Boards of Directors in Italy compared and contrasted with best practices, codes of conduct and regulations in other countries. The implications of ownership structures, dispersed vs. concentrated ownership, and the role of institutional investors and market disclosures will also be examined.

Professor Brogi is Full Professor of International Banking and Capital Markets and, since 2011, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Economics at Sapienza University in Rome. Her research interests are corporate governance, banking and capital markets. Professor Brogi is currently Lead Independent Director of Luxottica Group and Independent Director at Salini-Impregilo. Since 2008, she has served on the boards of large Italian listed and privately held companies. She serves on the Advisory Board of WomenCorporateDirectors Foundation (WCD), Co-Chairs WCD's Family Business Council and is WCD Italy Chapter Chair.

Marina will be interviewed by Maria Teresa Cometto, NYC Contributor, Corriere della Sera. Maria Teresa is an Italian journalist with over 25 years' experience in the media industry. She has been based in NYC since 2000, covering business, financial markets, and high-tech, and writing for some of the most important Italian newspapers, including Corriere della Sera and Il Mondo. She is well known for her articles regarding US technology and for her interviews with leading economists, including 14 Nobel Laureates. Marina will be introduced by Camilla Cocuzza, Bocconi School of Law, 2009. She is a corporate attorney qualified in Italy and the State of New York, working for an international law firm and primarily representing Italian companies and their subsidiaries in the US. Camilla graduated cum laude with a thesis on corporate governance and organizational assets of Italian joint stock corporations (Società per Azioni) and has advised several clients on their corporate structure and corporate governance in the US. Camilla is Secretary of the Bocconi Alumni Association New York, Inc. (BAA New York) and a member of the Board of Directors.
