Driver’s license renewal

Driver’s license renewal

Circular n. 107, 14 October 1997, of the Ministry of Transportation provides for the renewal by the Italian consular authorities of the driver’s license of Italian citizens residing abroad who are regularly registered in the consular registry (AIRE).

In order to obtain the driver’s license renewal, you need to:

  • make an appointment with one of our fiduciary medical doctors for a medical check-up (at your expense), to obtain the required certificate.
  • mail to the consulate your driver’s license (N.B.: may be expired for up to three years); the medical certificate, and a money order for the total of the required fees, together with a self-addressed, stamped envelope.

We suggest that you always use a trackable mailing service, such as USPS Priority; FedEx; UPS, etc.
