General Information

Every municipality (Comune) in Italy keeps an up-to-date registry (AIRE) of all its citizens who have moved abroad, and every Italian Consulate has its own registry of Italian citizens residing within their Consular Jurisdiction (Consular Registry). Therefore, the Consulate serves, in some respects, as the “Comune”, offering its residents some of the services they may expect from their Italian Comune.

The Consulate General of Italy in New York serves the following States: New York, Connecticut, New Jersey (for the following counties only: Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, Passaic, Somerset, Sussex, Union, Warren) and Bermuda.

Pursuant to Law no. 470/1988, Italian citizens who move abroad for more than 12 months (or those who have always lived abroad) must register within 90 days from their arrival. The registration request must be completed by the Italian citizen for him/herself and for his/her immediate family members (spouse and/or children).

HOW TO REGISTER THROUGH THE ONLINE PORTAL FAST IT

It is now possible to submit your AIRE registration and/or update your request ONLINE through the Fast It portal, which offers a quicker and more streamlined experience and access to our services, provided you submit the required documentation.

To create an account and submit your registration, click on the link https://serviziconsolarionline.esteri.it/ScoFE/index.sco  and follow the instructions.

IMPORTANT: Please READ CAREFULLY before proceeding.

After you create a Fast It account, you must submit a SEPARATE AIRE registration through the system. Creating an account does not mean you are registered.

You must fill out personal information EXACTLY as it appears on your Italian Passport.

If you do not have an Italian passport, fill out information EXACTLY as it appears on your birth certificate, issued by the Italian municipality.

Middle names should be included in the first name field "NOME".

Date of birth must be in European format: DAY / MONTH / YEAR.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION

You must upload a total of THREE FILES that must contain the following 4 or more DOCUMENTS for EACH ITALIAN CITIZEN IN YOUR FAMILY UNIT, and for all other members of the same family unit residing at the same address.
